peace & Appliqué is a family-run quilt shop in Rochester, IL. Currently, we have over 7,000 bolts of fabric, lots of books, patterns, and notions. We are also an authorized Bernina Sales and Repair Center. We have everything you need to stop in or call us today!

Our kit of the month for May is this sweet panel called E is for Elephant. The panel is ready to go, just quilt and bind it and you have a perfect present for the little one in your life. The finished sized is 24" x 34" and the kit is available for $24. The kit includes backing and binding. Call today to get yours!

The new First Saturday Sampler started in October, but it's not too late to join. This time we are using the book JELLY ROLL SAMPLER QUILTS, utilizing 2 1/2" strips. The colorways for this time will be Fresh, Civil War, and Christmas. The rules are the same. Come to your first class between 8:30 and 9:45, buy your book at 10% discount, buy your first block for $5, and attend the class. The next first Saturday of the month, come in at the designated class time with your block completed, attend the class, and you'll receive the next block free!! You must come with your completed block each month between 8:30 and 9:45, but if you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you may purchase the next block for $5. Please join us for the fun. And remember, it is never too late to join in. We will help you make up for any missed months! It is too much fun to pass up!

Central Illlinois Shop Hop was a great success and plans are underway for the Hop to be October October 12 & 13, 19 & 20, 2012. During the 2011 hop, $500 was donated to the American Cancer Society fund at St. Judes' in Peoria. Next year's charity will be the Alzheimer's Fund. The theme for 2012 is going to be Halloween, but we'll have Fall included in that. What fun will that be!

peace & Applique's Annual Charity Quilt Show celebrating fourteen years in business in Rochester will be in July. Plan to join us for this unique show. We'd love to have your quilt to show, also, so let us know if you have something you'd like to show off - your old or new or unusual quilt.

Springfield Q.U.I.L.T.S. will have their biennual show March 16 & 17 at the Orr Building at the State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Hours are Friday 10 AM - 6pm, and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.

One of the fun events we have is the Fifth Saturday Challenge. For the Fifth Saturday Challenge, you can come in to the shop and buy a brown paper sack with some fabric in it and rules for that month's challenge. You must use the fabric on the front of the quilt, and not just in the binding, and follow the guidelines presented. Then let your creativity take over! This is so much fun. These are pictures from the last Fifth Saturday challenge. We were to use charm squares, and no more than two other fabrics. The bushel basket fit the bill perfectly - a lining made of charm squares, and a lid covered with lots of charms. The other challengers made quilts, table runners, and a wall hanging. The next challenge meets June 30, and only red, white and blue fabric can be used. Come join us!

Come and visit our shop in a historic building in downtown Rochester, IL. Our unique and cozy shop has 12 foot exposed brick walls that offer fantastic spaces to display our latest works and class offerings. We are located just off of Route 29 in Rochester on East Main Street.

We've added a new shop to the Rochester area - Antiques Etc. just down the street from our shop. Hours are 10-3 most days, and 11-3 on Sunday. And while you're in Rochester. you can also visit Dollars and Cents, a coin shop across the street from us. On John Street just off Route 29 is Petals and Company, a florist shop with lots of unique gifts. There is also Remarkable Resale, a consignment shop, located in the Silo Center.
