1,000,000 Pillowcase Challenge!

You saw that correctly...we are participating in the 1,000,000 pillowcase challenge.  We want to help prove that quilting makes a difference by helping American Patchwork and Quilting make 1 million pillowcases.  From the allpeoplequilt.com website, "American Patchwork & Quilting is challenging you to join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference.  Every pillcase can make a difference in your community.  A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.

To participate, find a shop hosting One Million Pillowcase Challenge events in your area.  Once your pillowcases are complete and donated locally, log on below to enter how many pillowcases you made.  Help us reach our goal of ONE MILLION Pillowcases."

Project Linus

Project Linus is an organization that peace & Appliqué has been involved with for many years.  Project Linus is a 100% voluteer non-profit organization.  It is their mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through gifts of new, homemade, washable blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers.  To learn more about Project Linus, visit their website at www.projectlinus.org.  If you would like to participate, contact the shop via email at quilter@peacenapplique.com or phone at (217) 498-6771.  We would be ahppy to get you started with a pattern and suggestions!  They will certainly appreciate your help!

Support Our Troops

We have been involved in project providing quilts for wounded troops returning from the Middle East.  There is another project that is on-going that could use our support also.  It provides neck coolers, helmet liners, and other items for those serving our country.  The nect liners are made of muslin, and are filled with pellets that expand with water.  The coolers are then frozen and used by our troops to keep them cool in the 110-120 degree heat in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Visit www.geocities.com/helmetliners to learn more.
