Class Schedule

peace & Appliqué offers so many classes and clubs that we are sure there is one just right for you! Our schedule is below, but classes are being added all the time. For a calendar view, check out Events and Class Calendar page. Call or email us today for the most current list of events and happenings. Also, if you would like to take a class that is not listed here, let us know and we will do everything possible to make that happen for you.

Class Policies: Registration is required at least one week before the class. Payment is needed to confirm registration for classes and hold your place. Payment can be made by cash, check, or charge, and can be either mailed in, done in person at the shop, or phoned into the shop.

A class will be held if there are at least three registered. If we cancel a class due to low enrollment, illness, or other cause, a refund will be made. If the student does not come to class, the class fee is forfeited. All classes require a basic sewing kit, including machine (except hand-work classes), thread, needles marking pen, scissors, ripper, mat, rulers, and rotary cutter. Any additional supplies will be listed.

Beginning Machine Piecing	Sat	May 29 June 5 June 12	10:30-2:30 9:00-1:00 (12th)	$60	This is another session of Sharon’s popular beginning machine piecing, where she teaches you all the tricks of the trade to get you started machine piecing. Class fee $60. Book required.
Bella Bag by Anka's Treasures FYI Sewing	Wed Wed	July 14 July 21	1 pm 1:00-4:00	$15	This is a great bag that will work up quickly under Kay’s guidance. Class fee $15. Pattern required.
Bernina Club	2nd Thurs	Continues	1:00 pm or 6:00 pm	FREE!	Open to all, we will demonstrate a different technique using the Bernina sewing machines. All are welcome, even if you don't have a Bernina! This is followed by the Stitcher's Garden...see it below!
Bug Bag	Fri	July 16	1:00-4:00	$15	This class is for kids who know how to sew and who would like to make this fun bag that looks like a bug. This is a great one for an iPod or cell phone, or just for “stuff”. Student must be able to sew! Class fee $15 plus materials. Pattern required.
Crazy Quilters	1st & 3rd Mon	Continues	10:00 - noon	Free	This is a satellite group of the Springfield Quilters Guild. The group stitches and quilts on their own projects and enjoys each other's company. Come and join the fun.
Day and Night by Eleanor Burns	Sat	July 24	10:00-2:00	$20	Sharon will be teaching one of Eleanor’s most recent books, Day and Night. Great for those new quilters wanting to spread their wings. Class fee $20. Book Required.
Do Your Own Thing	4th Mon	Continues	10:00-12:00	$10/ session	Join Carlene on the 4th Monday to work on your own project. This master quilter has all the experience you need to get help with piecing, appliqué, construction, binding, and more. Bring your project and see!! Registration is required.
Fabulous Fractures FYI Sewing	Wed Wed	May 12 May 19	1 pm 1:00-4:00	$15	Join Kay as she takes you through the process of choosing one piece of fabric and “fracturing” it. What fun this will be. Class fee $15. Book required.
Fifth Saturday Challenge	Sat	July 31	10:00 am	Material cost	This is for those who like a challenge. You’ll come to class, buy a brown paper sack for anywhere from $10-$20. You can’t open the sack before you pay for the bag (that would be getting a sneak peek and we can’t allow that!) You’ll take the bag and make something – anything, such as a wall hanging, a table runner, a quilt, a jacket, an apron - but it must contain a piece of each fabric we’ve provided, plus what you’d like to add. It should be fun for those of you who like a challenge. On the next Fifth Saturday, you’ll return with your finished project and start again. Each time those in the group will vote on their favorite, and the winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the shop.
Hand Appliqué	Tues	July 20	10:00-12:00	$15	Sharon will teach the basics of hand appliqué, including several techniques and tips. Class fee $15, includes kit.
Hop To It Block of the Month	2nd Sat	Started Sept 12	1:00 pm	$18/ month for the block	Jill is leading this great group, which started in Sept (but please join us...you are welcome to start anytime). This is a lovely appliqué project by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. The book is required and each month a kit will be available for the block for $18 per month, which will include the background, the appliqué and the sashing. Jill will introduce the block at each meeting and will host a sit and sew for those who would like to join her.

They’ll be making a simple backpack, a carry-bag, and a simple quilt. Class fee is $110, which includes all materials. Class will repeat a second time started June 28.
Kid's Simple Quilt	Fri	July 23 July 30	1:00-3:00	$20	This class is for those kids who would like to make a simple quilt. They must be able to sew. The class fee is $20 plus materials.
Machine Appliqué	Tues	July 6	10:00-12:00	$15	Sharon will be teaching the basics of machine appliqué, including blanket stitch, blind stitch, and satin stitch. Class fee is $15, including the kit.
Machine Embroidery Club	1st Thurs	Continues (but join anytime)	1:00 - 3:00 or 6:00 - 8:00	$30/ year	The machine embroidery club meets the first Thursday of each month, with two identical sessions, one at 1 and the other at 6 PM. Come join this group as they learn tips and tricks of machine embroidery. Join us anytime!
Machine Software Classes	4th Tues or 4th Wed	Continues	6:15 - 8:00 1:00-3:00	Free**	Those interested in learning more about their embroidery software, particularly Bernina’s Version 6 software, come together on either the 4th Tuesday at 6:15 or the 4th Wednesday at 1 PM. If your machine and/or software were purchased from peace & Applique, the class is free. If not, the fee is $20/class. In June only, the Tuesday night group will meet the 5th Tuesday, which is June 29.
Miss Sadie's Finishing Club	3rd Thurs	Continues	10:00 - 3:00	Free	In order to belong to this club, you must have at least six unfinished projects at home! These ladies meet on the third Thursday of the month from 10-3 to work on finishing projects. They take turns providing a breakfast treat and lunch. The club is free.
Mood Swing Quilt	Sat	July 10	9:00-1:00	$20	Using bali pops, this quilt will be a great one for those who have finished Sharon’s Beginning Piecing class, or for those who’d like an easy quilt in beautiful colors. Class fee $20. Book required.
One Block Wonder Cubed FYI Sewing	Wed	June 2 June 9 June 30	1 pm 1:00-4:00	$30	This class is an extension of the One Block Wonder where you will add cubes to the project, giving it a 3 dimensional feel. Class fee $30. Book required.
Quilt Club	4th Thurs	Continues	1:00	Free	This free club is another opportunity to share with fellow quilters. A free pattern is given at each meeting, and there is show and tell and a discussion of what's new in the shop.
Saturday Sampler	1st Sat	Continues	8:30 - 9:45	$5 for first block	The fun way to make a quilt! This year's project is from the book "Better by the Dozen" and will lots of fun to do! Each month a new block is presented, and if you bring your completed block from the previous month to the meeting, you’ll get the next one free. Book required. This series will go through September and a new series will begin after that.
Sit & Sew	4th Wed or 4th Thurs	Continues	10:00-noon 6:30-8:30	$30/ year	On the 4th Wednesday at 10:00 or the 4th Thursday at 6:30, those who love to do handwork will come together for a session of "sitting and sewing with Jill." She has designed a beautiful appliqué pattern for each month. These patterns are exclusive for the club, and will not be available for purchase until the year is finished. Club fee is $30/year. Stitcher's Garden	2nd Thurs	Continues	1:00 pm or 6:00 pm	Free	Immediately following the Bernina Club meeting, this group meets to continue on this block of the month project which utilizes the decorative stitches and various feet of their sewing machines. So much fun!
