Quilt Retreat – Villa Maria Style
Join us for an exciting new retreat at the stunning Villa Maria, located on Lake Springfield, near Lincoln Memorial Gardens. We have the opportunity to use this wonderful facility for 4 days, Monday to Thursday.
Our retreat will begin Monday at 1pm. We suggest you have lunch on the way out to the camp. The facility has a large circle drive, with a ramp that can take your things right up to the front door. Access to the sleeping room wing can be through the main doors, so just drop off all your things there. Parking is in the back of the building. Let us know if you need help parking the car as there are steps from the parking lot to the back of the building.
Once inside, we will drop your sewing supplies in the main conference room. Your overnight bags can be wheeled to your sleeping room. We will have a reception desk to make sure you get the information you need, and the room number that you have been assigned. If you are bringing one of those small white tables, let us know so we can plan the sewing space. There is also a section on the form for table mates. Let us know who you want to sew by, and we will do our best to coordinate that arrangement.
We will have another “coffee” room for snacks, drinks (refrigerator available) and supplies from the shop. Feel free to bring some great snack to share if you like, chocolate of course is always welcome. As always, we will bring water bottles and soda. If you have a drink preference, and want to bring something specific, that is great. Just put in the refrigerator!
Rooms are mostly double occupancy, so you can also pick your sleeping room mate, or let us choose a person for you. These rooms are very neat, with two twin beds, separated by a corner bath. There is a dresser and chair in case you need to take a break and relax alone for a bit. The bathrooms are neat as a pin, with showers, toweling and linens provided.
Relax in the large living room, with plenty of couches and chairs for our weary quilters. Our hand-work afficianato’s will enjoy a comfortable chair to work in, I am sure. This room looks out on the lake through large windows, so the lighting is excellent.
Meals will be provided by the Villa Maria, and are served in a separate dining area. We will begin with dinner on Monday night, all three meals on Tuesday and Wednesday, and breakfast on Thursday. We will have plenty of snacks and small nibbles if you want to quilt into Thursday afternoon. We are looking at a 4pm departure time.
As always, we will have lots of inspiration for the weekend. We will bring along quick projects and some new techniques. We wouldn’t want you to get bored!
You must register on the web to let us know you are coming. First 36 confirmations and payments will be accepted.
With only 36 spots, and lots of people wanting to participate, please get your confirmation and payment in quickly. The last page has some information about the facility. You will really love the space!
Welcome to the Villa Maria!

The Villa Maria started life in the mid-1950's as an educational facility for diocesan seminarians. These grounds still fulfil their original purpose of education and spiritual enrichment today. Set in a quiet, residential neighborhood, the Villa Maria offers a beautiful view of Lake Springfield. The gently rolling grounds with dozens of mature trees entice you to take a stroll and unwind.
A path leads from our grounds into Lincoln Memorial Gardens, which boasts a number of well groomed trails for longer walks. Lincoln Greens Golf Course is also nearby.
The tranquil and reflective atmosphere is continued inside our buildings. Many rooms offer a spectacular view of the grounds, while keeping you comfortable in our climate-controlled environment.
